June’s Nest

Welcome to the Nest

June’s Nest is a space where I share reflections on social work, mental health, advocacy, and personal experiences that shape how I see and do this work.
Right now, I’m also working on Purpose Takes Shape, a series of interviews with people working across social services and helping professions. Through these conversations, I explore how people grow into their roles, navigate challenges, and define purpose in different ways.

About Me

The Story Behind June’s Nest

June’s Nest is named after my grandma, Rubee June, and it’s also my middle name. My grandma cared deeply, never wanted anyone to go without, and filled her porch with wind chimes, her windows with sun catchers, and always made sure the birds were fed.

In recent years, I’ve found myself doing the same, slowing down and learning to appreciate small joys.
The word “nest” felt right. Not as something perfect, but as something built one piece at a time, careful and intentional, creating a space that’s safe, warm, and full of life. That’s what this space is for me.
